Need a destination for the fun summer vacation you’re planning? You should definitely consider the beautiful mountain scenery of Mont Tremblant, a small, but lovely municipality in the Canadian province of Québec. About 130 KM from Montreal, this little town is mostly known for its ski resorts, but there a whole host of warm weather activities to be done as well. There’s plenty to do whether you’re travelling alone, with a group, or bringing your whole family! Mont Tremblant is a perfect summer vacation destination. With so many things to choose from, it’s hard to pick, but here are 10 of the best things do when visiting Mont Tremblant.
This activity is definitely not for the faint of heart, but it certainly promises to be an action packed adventure for thrill seekers of all ages. Ziptrek is a ziplining tour that allows visitors to experience the mountain views of Tremblant in a whole new and totally unforgettable way. Perfect for families or groups of friends, Ziptrek lets you fly through the forest side by side with your zipping partner! The Ziptrek course features 5 different ziplines that take you from the top of Mont Tremblant all the way back down to the village, providing panoramic scenic views the whole way.
After an adrenaline filled day on the Ziptrek course, you might be looking to relax and unwind. The treatments offered at the Scandinave Spa are the perfect way to help get your heart rate back down. If you’re travelling with family, then this an experience that you’ll have to leave the kids out of, but it’s a great way to rejuvenate and reconnect with your partner or relax with a friend. The Scandinave Spa feature traditional Scandinavian baths as well as massage designed to both relax and reenergize all spa visitors. A major part of the Scandinave philosophy is silence, so you won’t be allowed to take your phone. But it’s a great to disconnect from the outside world and everyday life and allow yourself to escape the stress and find a deeper connection within yourself.
For those that prefer a more exciting activity, pay a visit to the Jim Russell Académie de Karting. This is a great trip out for families with kids 12 and older, or for those groups of friends that like a bit of competition. The Enduro-karts at Jim Russell are equipped with a four stroke 9.5HP engine that allows them to reach speeds of up to 90 km/h (that’s over 55 mph!). If maybe you feel a little unsafe driving, or your kids aren’t quite old enough, Jim Russell also hosts some of Canada’s race events, so you can still get in on the karting action!
If your preferred method of transportation is biking, then Tremblant is definitely the place for you. The village and mountains offer trails and paths for cyclists of all levels and are accessible for riders of all abilities! An experience unlike any other, Tonga Lumina is one Mont Tremblant special you won’t want to miss. Legend has it that the area is home to a sleeping giant. As the last of his kind, the giant is the guardian of the beautiful nature in the area, and his wrath for those is disrespect nature has been the source of fear for many ancient generations. The giant has not awoken from his sleep for many, many years. But in the early rays of the summer sun, whisperings of the giant’s return are heard, and his footprints have been discovered deep in the forest. Clues await the curious ones who seek to find their way to the giant!
This walk takes place entirely outdoors, on a dirt path through the mountain at night. The walkway through Tonga Lumina is just under a mile long and is lit up the whole way. Participants can expect the whole journey to take about an hour. It is a sensory experience that is sure to delight the whole family and other visitors of all ages. You definitely don’t want to miss the giant experience at Tonga Lumina!
Another great outdoor activity is Domaine Saint-Bernard, one of Canada’s beautiful, protected nature reserves. Boasting 1,500 acres of natural wilderness, the park offers plenty of trails for walking and biking and offers breathtaking views of the Rivière du Diable and Lac Raynaud. There are loads of recreation options, including a playground for the kids, ziplines, sports equipment, and even water activities like canoes and kayaks. If you’ve never been white water rafting before, let me just say that it is definitely one of the best things I have ever done. It is so much fun, and great for big groups of all ages, but like Ziptrek, it definitely isn’t for the faint of heart. The Activity Center in Mont Tremblant offers white water rafting on the Rouge River, one of the top rivers for white water rafting in North America. Whether you’re an expert rafter or if it’s your first time, you’ll definitely love the ride that the Rouge River rapids have to offer!
A perfect family-friendly activity is the Skyline Luge. If you’re anything like me, then you’ve watched the luge during the winter Olympics and have always wanted to experience the thrill of sledding down those tracks. Skyline Luge offers the perfect opportunity to do just that. Their ride is part toboggan, part go-kart and allows riders to stay in control the whole time. With the special steering and braking systems, you can go as fast or as slow as you want. Skyline was the first luge attraction offered in North America and offers a trail for riders that’s about a mile long.
